The new Grand Seiko in rose gold pays tribute to the miraculous beauty of the transition between late winter and early spring.

The soft pink or pale white of cherry blossoms often evokes a heart-fluttering sensation. Grand Seiko, the Japanese luxury watchmaker, has unveiled its new rose gold “Sakura-Kakushi Time” 62GS watch, capturing the unique cherry blossom scenery of the Tohoku region in Japan, along with the fleeting beauty of the changing seasons.

The term “Sakura-Kakushi” translates to “Hidden Sakura,” referring to a rare natural phenomenon where new snow covers the cherry blossoms after a warm spell followed by a sudden drop in temperature. This creates a special scene where early spring and late winter coexist. Many people seek out these rare places, making “Hidden Cherry Blossom Spots” a popular search term on Google.

In 2022, Grand Seiko released the high-frequency 36,000 vibrations per hour Heritage Collection 62GS SBGH34 model, inspired by the “Sakura-Kakushi” scenery. In 2025, Grand Seiko once again releases the new “Sakura-Kakushi Time” 62GS watch, with a dial inspired by this phenomenon. The copper-pink 38mm dial evokes the sight of cherry blossoms under heavy snow, while also resembling the delicate ice crystals formed by frost.

The watch features the high-frequency 9S85 automatic movement, offering a 55-hour power reserve, 36,000 vibrations per hour, and a daily accuracy of +5/-3 seconds. The transparent caseback allows for an up-close view of the automatic winding mechanism and the finely finished details of the movement. The rose gold case and lugs are carefully polished with Zaratsu mirror finishing by skilled craftsmen, paired with a coffee-colored leather strap, bringing this precious piece of Japan’s natural beauty to the wrist.
